Simple one, last two sketches got deleted by app. Can someone recommend me a drawing app for android.
What do people think about getting the best angle of your work to make it look better in the photograph, is that cheating? Or is it best just to get a shot dead on of what it looks like?
Nah man I know exactly what you mean. So many times I’ve taken pics of my sketches and it just doesn’t capture the look I thought it had in person. Prob just cause everyone is more critical of their own work cause they know how it was supposed to look
Nobody is mad about taking angles or other things to try and capture your work best. But honestly, @watchawant ... That piece is one of your best and would look good from any angle. My only complaint about a lot of your work is it feels, and maybe I am wrong, like you are rushing. Which can make sense given the deadlines and life. If that is the case, maybe focus on ways to make it as dope as possible without sacrificing the finished product. I think of @salski and his entry. That is fucking dope and does not look rushed at all. He also kept it very simple with the color scheme. That's what I mean. Yours is full color. Which is great. But I wonder if it would be better unfilled and the time spent on the fill was instead invested in making the lines smooth. That's polite criticism and I hope you take it as such and not hate because it definitely is not that. Like, at all. I hesitate to even offer crits without being asked because I am hardly the Graff master or whatever. I dunno. But your latest is tops.
This is an interesting dilemma. Something that I struggle with as well. In theory, I guess the best solution would be to scan it but, Ive even read some masters like Adi Granov say how he likes to shoot his artwork with a camera as opposed to scanning. There are a ton of variables to consider. 1- shakiness - If your going to shoot an artwork with a camera then the best bet is to use a tripod. That would provide the ultimate support needed to get the krispiest shot possible. 2- Lighting - by default, everyone should use natural light when available. This of course typically is not a viable option for most because we dont live in spaces where we get even lighting. I used to go outside to shoot my artwork but, even that doesnt always work right. The pros use various lights, reflectors and diffusers to capture those jiggy shots. 3- Angle - so, I had a conversation once with a freelance graphic design friend of mine that has had gigs where he needed to shoot merchandise for websites and print. He told me that since most artists draw on an incline the work should be shot in a similar fashion, also, when we look at artwork, most of the time we are not viewing it straight on (if we are holding the artwork that is), we hold the artwork on a slight angle. Its just something natural people do which is why artists draw on inclines. We are in essence compensating for that angle and thus creating artwork if seen flat, makes sense to the viewer. So, what Ive personally decided to do, because I either dont have the means, space, time, etc to do all that jiggy stuff is to shoot my artwork in the same location, in the same angle, around the same time/ with the same lighting set-up every time. At least that way theres some consistency throughout. Hope that helps. Good luck.
Yeah your right I do kind of rush, sometimes I just want to get a sketch quick just for the battle and defo rush the colors, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! Generally in real life I usually just do a pencil sketch then do the colors on the wall but guessed I would practice colors on paper for the battles, thanks I will take this into consideration for the next round.
Anyone else noticing the responses are all out of order, so you missed some? Like @Suacer 's entry got posted BEFORE HE SUGGESTED THE BATTLE. That's just an example. I'm don't think it's something he did. I think it's the forum fucking up somehow. @Slushi 6989 you might want to let @newz12 know...
It's been a while since my last submit since I'm busy with my job. Then last night I checked this battle to know what's going on here. Then I made my sketch and it took about 2-3 hours to finish it. I made it black on white paper simply because I ran out of markers. LOL
I uploaded my entry on Monday but I really don't know what happened. I had many problems even to entry at the site.
