I do stenciling well used to. its pretty much cutting out the shadow parts and here and there to make it look together. they have computer programs that can help you.

yea im sure theres a tutorial on this forum somewhere search for it. but basically you take a photo, desaturate it on photoshop, and then fuck around with the lighting until you can get the lines clean, then cut that shit out.
