I tag, cuz it connects me to my city, shit bugs me out when I'm walkin by something and I see my name, and I dont even remember puttin it up there. That Shit reminds me that i'm home
its definitely because I love the art and I've found that I've got some kind of natural nack for it more so then other art forms so I love doing whether its legal or illegal
cuz its for the art, and to piss people off, and ruin places that i fuacking hate, like starbucks or mcdonalds
I think graff, after a while becomes a compultion, or a habit. sort of like if your a klepto and you go into a store and steal shit you dont need, and you dont really think about it, it just sort of happens. I just se spot I want to to tag, and then do. I guess its a rush too. But more complex then that, its a feeling of satisfaction. Stops that little itch in my brain, and makes me feel at ease. And if I dont hit the spot, it nags at me like "yo, you coulda hit that! thats one less up you got"
helps get out anger instead of fucking stabbing people, society should be thanking us, for putting up pieces of art instead of corporate bullshit billboards brainwashing everyone, we add creativity, something tht can't be taken over by government or corporations, thats why I graff, anger, and that I'm putting pieces of art, as much as corporations are putting up billboards
Because it's productive. Because it's better than drugs. Because it's better than money. Because it's better than sex. Because you're putting something into the society that is different from what people see every day, even as a graff artist you're making something different than everyone else's so someone can stop on their way to work and say "hmm...I wonder what motherfucker did that shit. But it looks really nice. Wow." and then they walk away. If we were artists who put their art in only galleries people would look at them and go "nice nice..." and walk away to look at the next thing all nice in a frame. But when you do graffiti you can put it anywhere you want. It can say anything you want. And no one will judge you and no one will have their opinions affected because they don't really know who you are. To put something in a gallery, you have to have to go through a process to have it put in there and bought and then someone takes it home to put above their couch in their living room and no one but that person and their guests see it. But when you put something up by the side of the road everyone sees it, everyones affected and everyone thinks. That took me a really long time to write.
This is something every graffiti artist has in commen. I'm sure people like graffiti becuase of that feeling they get while doing graffiti or after painting.. While im doing graffiti the adrenaline rush is hitting me, after im done with anything i do and i say damn shits fresh. You totally get to express who you are with paint. If your commited to graffiti it is what defines the kind of person you are.
